The invention relates to a method for producing a plate, in particular a licence plate for a motor vehicle. The inventive method consists in applying at least a range of layers which form a flat electrolumeniscent condenser (4 , 5, 6, 7) and a reflecting film (10,10'). Said film is selected in such a way that the reflecting power thereof is higher than a legally authorised value. Said reflecting power is afterwards reduced during further production in suc h a way that it is lower than the legally authorised value.
