PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a bore pitted on a heating surface of a high-temperature heat exchanger. SOLUTION: In the absorption refrigerator, a high-temperature regenerator 1, low-temperature regenerator 2, condenser 3, evaporator 4, absorber 5, low-temperature heat exchanger 6, high-temperature heat exchanger 7, and so on are connected to circulate refrigerant and absorbing fluid for absorbing the refrigerant. The absorption refrigerator also has a damage detection means C which checks if a difference , (N2-N1), between the absorbing fluid concentration N2 of intermediate absorbing fluid detected by an absorbing fluid concentration detection means M2 and the absorbing fluid concentration N1 of dilute absorbing fluid detected by an absorbing fluid concentration detection means M1 is within a predetermined levelα(for example, 2 mass%), and, if the difference is within the predetermined levelα, determines that a bore is pitted on the heating surface of the high-temperature heat exchanger 7.
