PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive thin and smaller aroma generator which achieves a higher freedom in shaping and easier handling and maintenance, and further, an aroma generating apparatus which enables the control of the intensity and the kind of the aroma humanly sensed by using a computer while further enhancing the generation efficiency of the aroma. SOLUTION: The plate-like aroma generator is constituted of a liquid aroma occlusion plate, a cover plate disposed in contact with the occlusion plate and a means for supplying the liquid aroma to the occlusion plate. The occlusion plate is made up of a mesh wire or porous material that lets air pass while absorbing and storing the liquid aroma. The cover plate is provided with a plurality of air holes while the size and form of the air holes are so set that the skin does not reach the liquid occlusion plate when the skin contacts the cover plate. Further, a means for heating the liquid aroma, a means for exposing the liquid aroma to ultrasonic waves and a means for guiding the aroma in a specified direction by hitting air stream are combinedly used.
