PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for highly precisely estimating coke strength and a method for properly operating a coke oven using the method. SOLUTION: The method for estimating coke strength comprises calculating a pore space ratio and a porosity of coke formed from each coal brand using a coal blending ratio and expansion characteristics of each coal brand, calculating the strength of the coke formed from each coal brand using the strength at each production site and the porosity of the coke formed from each coal brand, and calculating strength of coke formed from blended coals using the strength of the coke formed from each coal brand and the pore space ratio of the coke formed from each coal brand.
