PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel optical scanner and an image forming apparatus with the scanner for effectively correcting the bend of a scanning line and the deterioration in a wavefront aberration in an obliquely incident type optical scanner. SOLUTION: An optical scanner comprises a light source; an optical polarizer with a deflective reflecting surface for reflecting a light flux from the light source and a rotational axis in parallel with the reflecting surface; and a scanning image-formation optical system for light-focusing the light flux reflected from the reflecting surface on a scanned surface, and radiates a light flux from the light source in the direction obliquely intersecting the rotational axis against the reflecting surface of the optical polarizer. A sub scanning cross-sectional shape of at least one surface of lenses composing the optical system is a non-circular arc, and a deviation amount of the cross-sectional shape from a circular arc is varied depending on a position in a main scanning direction.
