When digital broadcast is decoded and again encoded for digital recording, the detailed information concerning the program and information on the age limit for viewing contained in the original digital broadcast may be lost. A recording/reproduction device includes a digital tuner for decoding a digital broadcast signal and outputting it as MPEG-TS and a demultiplexer for separating the MPEG-TS according to the packet type. The AV data packets separated hear are decoded by an AV decoder and re-encoded into an AV data packet again by an AV encoder. On the other hand, a PSI or SI packet which has been separated by the demultiplexer is read out by a control microcomputer, reconstructed while preserving the view limit information and the like, transmitted to the system multiplexer, multiplexed with the AV data packet re-encoded, and stored in a recording medium.
