PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decorate a character being printed on a tape-like print medium with impact.

SOLUTION: An arrangement region 150 becoming a reference for arranging the characters 100 in a character string being printed is provided, and the width of a frame 120 being arranged on the outside of the arrangement region 150 is determined. An arrangement marginal region 100, i.e. the arrangement region 150 from which the regions of the characters 100 being arranged therein are removed, is used as a background 130 along with the frame 120. The characters 100 are reversed to a nonprint part and the background 130 is reversed to a print part.
