PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shear folding method of waste can and an apparatus therefor which brings about the high reduction rate of volume and satisfactory operability and gives a light load to an operator. SOLUTION: The shear folding method of waste comprises shear process of shearing a top plate and bottom plate having a quadrilateral of the waste can of a rectangular parallelepiped leaving one part of one side thereof, a bending process of bending the sheared top plate and bottom plate toward the inner part of the can and mating the top plate and bottom plate to one surface of can shell or two surfaces opposed to each other, a rimpling process of rimpling the opposed two surfaces of the can shell to which the top plate and the bottom plate are not mated, toward the inner direction and a folding process of flattening the waste can by pressing it from the side of the can shell which is not rimpled.
