The glow plug control method has the vehicle on-board voltage used by a control device (16) for providing a required pre-glow voltage, with determination of the difference between the actual and the required pre-glow voltages when the required pre-glow voltage is not attained, for correcting the application duration of the pre-glow voltage and/or the pre-glow pulse ratio.
