The invention relates to a device (1) which is used to collect information relating to at least one patient using a medical apparatus and/or the computer of an attending physician, to save the information in a memory element (4) and to use said information from the aforementioned memory element (4). The inventive device is characterised in that it comprises: means (6) which are designed to collect information relating to at least one patient using a medical apparatus and/or a computer; at least one means (7) of receiving a removable memory element (8) which is assigned to the attending physician and which is used to store the above-mentioned patient-related information; and means (9) of saving the information in the memory element (8) and/or means of reading (10) said information from the memory element (8). The invention also relates to a method employed by said device.
