PURPOSE: A high-speed multiplication type position detector and a method for compensating for an error thereof are provided to detect a precise position by calculating the position based on an arc tangent principle while compensating for an error. CONSTITUTION: A measurement reference point is firstly set(P002). Then, a period multiplication number is calculated from a final peak point by measuring voltage of signal wave voltages(P008). Then, it is detected whether or not a present mode is a slip mode(P010). If the present mode is not the slip mode, a total multiplication number is calculated, thereby outputting a total multiplication pulse(P012, P014). Then, a real position is calculated based on the total multiplication pulse(P018). After performing an interrupt process, the previous steps are repeated.
