PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval system and an information retrieval program that enable a user to visually narrow down documents without preparing a search word. SOLUTION: Document vectors are generated according to words included in a document group or keywords set in each document in the document group (Step S101), and on the basis of elements (features) of the generated document vectors, relevance is calculated for every feature of every document (Step S102). At least two features selected by a user are set as coordinate axes, and each document is plotted to generate coordinate planes (Step S103, S104). The generated coordinate planes are displayed in given order of priority, where a selection of coordinate points on the displayed coordinate surface (Step S105, S107) allows the display of further coordinate planes or checks on document contents (Step S111, S110), until a target document is acquired.
