PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic shock absorber in which deterioration of the global environment caused by disposal and leakage of operating oil can be prevented by making the pneumatic shock absorber applicable especially to a suspension of a vehicle or the like under the environment in which the pneumatic shock absorber is forced to expand and shrink in a relatively wide frequency region, and which does not require sealing of a high pressure gas. SOLUTION: The pneumatic shock absorber K1 is provided with a bypass passage B1 to connect a lower chamber R2 and a reservoir chamber R, a connection passage S to connect the reservoir chamber R and the upper chamber R1, and a communicating chamber L to communicate the upper chamber R1 and the lower chamber R2 to a piston 1 or a piston rod 2. A first damping valve V1 is provided in the middle of the bypass passage B1. A first check valve V2 is provided in the middle of the connection passage S. A second damping valve V3 and a second check valve V4 are provided to the communicating passage L. A little operating oil J to be filled into the pneumatic shock absorber K is made to circulate the upper chamber R1 and the lower chamber R2. As a result, the space between a cylinder 3 and the piston 1 is lubricated. The gas pressure in the bypass passage B1 on the lower chamber side from the lower chamber and the first damping valve is made higher. The first damping valve V1 makes the gas pressure higher during extension of the pneumatic shock absorber K1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
