PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for indexing carbonyl contents and a method for measuring carbonyl values capable of safely and easily obtaining index values of the carbonyl content in various samples whose polarity and molecular weight are different from each other, and capable of appropriately obtaining the index value even in the case only a little content of the carbonyl is in the sample. SOLUTION: In the method for indexing the carbonyl content, a reaction solution is analyzed, which is obtained by making 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine react with carbonyl in the sample, and thereby obtaining the index value of the carbonyl content in the sample. For the reaction, alcohol with aldehyde ketone whose total quantity is not more than 3 ppm, is used as a reaction solvent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
