摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve color dropout by taking into account not only simple respective pixels but the periphery of the pixels to process an electronic image. SOLUTION: A method for electronic color dropout utilizing spatial context to enhance the accuracy comprises scanning of a document to produce a color digital image. A thresholding apparatus is applied to the color digital image to produce a reproduced image. A region of the color digital image is selected corresponding to a feature of the reproduced image. An average color for the region is computed and compared to a predetermined dropout color. If the average color matches the predetermined dropout color, the region is erased from the reproduced image. Once it is determined that all features of the reproduced image have been examined, the process is complete. If all the features of the reproduced image have not been examined, a region of the color digital image is selected corresponding to the feature of the reproduced image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
