The air conditioning system has a latent cold store, cooled by an evaporator (1). The evaporation temperature of a coolant in the evaporator is set dependent upon demand, to a value between a min. temperature (Tmin) and a max. temperature (Tmax) below a phase transition temperature of the latent medium, e.g. decyl alcohol or similar.
