PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user with necessary information at necessary timing, regardless of the variation in the communication environment. SOLUTION: The navigation system 100 loaded on a vehicle providing user with guide information by obtaining map information from a map server 200 capable of mutual transmission/reception of information. The system comprises a received data quantity calculating means 31 for calculating received data quantity capable of receiving at the present position detected with a position detection means 40 of the vehicle, and a distribution command means 33 for selecting map information smaller than the calculated received data quantity and transmitting the distribution command of the selected map information to the map server 200.
