PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain characters written on a character medium such as paper as information. SOLUTION: The character medium on which characters are written, such as paper, is photographed with a camera-equipped cellphone 3 to obtain character image data SO. The data are transmitted to a character image processing device 2. The lens aberration of the camera 31 of the phone 3 is corrected by a correcting means 22 to obtain corrected character image data S1. A character recognition means 23 subjects the corrected character image data to a character recognition process using OCR techniques to obtain character code data TO for transmission to the phone 3.
