PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strip for separating a paper web, and a manufacturing method therefor, which can obtain an adequate strength even if a thickness dimension is made smaller, and can reduce the amount of the loss of the paper web, caused by a strip trace. SOLUTION: Since this strip 1 for separating the paper web is formed of a core material 1a which is composed of a flexible synthetic resin film formed in a strip shape, and a paper material 1b which is joined to one surface of the core material 1a, the core material 1a, which has a high strength in spite of small thickness thereof, can offer the adequate strength even if the thickness dimension is made smaller. Thus, the strip 1 can be made as strong as/stronger than and much smaller in thickness dimension than a strip of a type which is formed by folding back a paper material alone or a strip of a type which by joining many twist strings to one another in a width direction. Consequently, the amount of the strip trace, which is formed in the paper web at the start of winding, can be decreased by virtue of a reduction in the thickness dimension of the strip 1.
