UNIVERSAL MATERIAL TESTING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

In order to test a material for its mechanical properties by application of a load, a load that is stepwise increased from its initial value is applied to a specimen (4) of the material and after it has been ascertained that the amount of change in the strain under the load (Wn) per unit time is within a predetermined range, the load is increased for the next step and applied to the specimen; thus, the physical and time changes are measured in each step. It is preferable that the load on the specimen be maintained constant and that the load in each step and the physical and time changes at that time be recorded.
