MULLITE REFRACTORY FOR MICROWAVE OVEN, AND MICROWAVE OVEN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mullite refractory for a microwave oven, whose microwave transmission characteristics are remarkably high and which is suitable for a structural material or a firing fixture for a microwave oven, and to provide a microwave oven using such a mullite refractory.

SOLUTION: The mullite refractory for a microwave oven is used for a microwave oven 10 shown in the Figure. Pieces of the refractory 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e have a dielectric loss factor (ε×tanδ) of ≤ 0.1 at 1,000°C and /or a dielectric loss factor (ε×tanδ) of ≤ 0.05 at 500°C. Thereby, the pieces of the mullite refractory have a high microwave transmission characteristic, carry the total energy saving effect, that is the greatest merit of the microwave oven, and absorb microwaves when arranged in the furnace so that the occurrence of softening, shrinkage, etc., is suppressed.
