PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system which quickly detects a communication trouble and prevents the restarting of a communication party's apparatus because of the power voltage down, etc. from being misjudged to be a communication trouble. SOLUTION: A communication is executed over data communication lines 5, 6 between an engine control ECU 1 and a throttle control ECU 2. When a master starting flag FRSTSEFD is set to "1" to show the engine control ECU 1 is started, the count of a trouble detecting counter CFS in the throttle control ECU 2 is returned to "0" (S33). When the reception of data is not normal, the counter CFS increases its count value, and it decides the communication to be abnormal, if a decision threshold CMSN is reached (S36, S37).
