A pressed metal retainer for securing a threaded fastener replaces a solid threaded nut. The retainer has a rectangular base plate (1) with a pressed dome profile (2) in the centre on one side. The dome profile is cut into segments by spiral slits running from the base plate to an upper aperture for the fastener. The base plate has two tags (4) pointing down at right angles to the plate, and two upper angled tags (5) to secure into a mounting.
