A machine for laying flooring containing synthetic resins comprises a chasis, a resilient plate 28 fixed at the rear end of the chasis and extending obliquely downwardly to lie below a pressure bar 21 mounted on the chasis, thereby to prevent the material to be laid contacting the pressure bar, and means whereby the pressure bar 21 can be vertically reciprocated. As shown the chasis comprises side beams 1 connected at their fore ends by cross member 2 and at their rear by a structure 3. The beams 1 carry pulleys 4, 5 connected by trapezoidal belts 14 and the wheels 4 are driven by motor 7 through chain 10, gear box 8 and chain 13. The structure 3 carries at its bottom end an angle piece 19 to which is fixed a spring blade 17 in an adjustable manner. The opposite end of blade 17 is fixed between a member 18 and an angle iron 16 (Fig. 2, not shown) which carries a beam 21. The whole assembly 18, 16, 21 is given a vibratory motion by a suitable cam device also driven from motor 7. A thin spring steel plate 28 is fixed to the member 19 and extends to beneath the vibrating beam 21 so as to participate in the vibratory motion thereof. In use surfacing material is placed in bulk between the beams 1 and the motor 7 started. This drives the device in direction of arrow f and the vibrating plate 28 spreads the surfacing material M to the required depth whilst at the same time preventing it clogging the moving parts of the mechanism. In a second embodiment the blade 17 is dispensed with and the vibratory motion is produced by means of an eccentric device and in a further embodiment the vibrating mechanism is separately driven. |
