Metallic cylinder head gasket

The cylinder head gasket has inner and outer metal layers (20, 22) with grooves (26, 28) surrounding the ports (14). These enclose a central steel sheet (24) with a stopper (30) consisting of a pattern of cup shaped depressions (32) separated by areas (34) raised above the level of the rest of the sheet. An Independent claim is included for a method for making the gasket.
