1,053,173. Laminates formed by extrusion. MULTIFOL PATENTVERWERTUNGS A.G. Jan. 21, 1965 [Jan. 24, 1964], No. 2678/65. Headings B5A and B5N. A process for producing multi-layer sheeting from thermoplastic synthetic resin laminµ of different chemical composition, comprises the steps of extruding the laminµ from vertically parallel wide slot dies, providing a reactive gas in the gap enclosed by two adjacent laminµ from the place of exit from the dies to the place where the laminµ are combined, said gas being adapted to react with at least one of the laminµ, and laminating the laminµ. Specified reactive gases are oxygen alone or in admixture with nascent oxygen or ozone, chlorine, fluorine, boron trifluoride, sulphuryl chloride, sulphur dioxide, styrene, vinyl chloride and butadiene alone or in admixture with diluents, e.g. air. Specified laminae are on the one hand polyethylene and on the other hand nylon, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene or polyurethane. Fig. 2 shows an apparatus for effecting the process of the invention.
|
