PURPOSE: A method for displaying a caller ID in a mobile communication system is provided to authorize a caller ID service subscriber to display his caller ID to a called terminal, even though the user of the called terminal hasn't joined the caller ID service. CONSTITUTION: If a caller ID service subscriber's mobile station(10) sends a location registration request to an MSC(40) through a BS(Base Station)(20) and a BSC(Base Station Controller)(30), the MSC(40) transmits a location registration message, including the subscriber's location registration information, to an HLR(Home Location Register)(50). The HLR(50) confirms the subscriber's authorization information and transmits a location registration notification response message to the MSC(40), including the subscriber's authorization information, extrinsic information, and caller ID service information. Afterwards, if the subscriber dials a destination number, the relevant signal is transferred to the MSC(40) through the BS(20) and the BSC(30). At this moment, the caller's number information is also transferred to the MSC(40), as well as the destination number. At this moment, the MSC(40) analyzes the caller's number as well as the destination number and judges whether a trigger for the caller's caller ID service is active. In case that the caller ID service is active, the MSC transmits an origination request message to the HLR(50). The HLR(50), receiving the origination request message, transmits a remote user interaction order message, containing an associated announcement code, to the MSC(40) in order to request the caller to input a number to be displayed at the destination mobile station.
