摘要 A cooling system 60 and method to meet the cooling needs of a hybrid electric vehicle is disclosed. The system 60 has a cooling loop 68 with a heat exchanger 78 and conduits to connect a stator housing of a motor 63, transmission 64, and heat exchanger 78 so that coolant flows through the cooling loop through the action of either a mechanical transmission pump 87 or an auxiliary pump 86 or both. <??>A controller 91 can be provided to receive and process input from at least one vehicle sensor 93 and command the auxiliary pump 86 to operate when the processed input of at least one vehicle sensor 93 exceeds a pre-selected threshold. <IMAGE>
