The equipment is for driving a component by simultaneous striking and vibration, where the component is in contact with or surrounded particularly by an earth layer (5). The component comprises either a striker plate (4), which locates in broad surface contact with the earth layer (5) to compact it, or comprises an elongated object such as a post or a tongue or a packing unit to be driven into or withdrawn from a material mass. An energy source (1), such as a drop hammer or a vibrator, applies impulses against the striker plate to drive it against the material mass. The striker plate has a passive vibration device. The vibrating device is adjustable to the required oscillating frequency, which corresponds to the inherent frequency for a system defined by the component, the engaged area of the material mass by the component and the vibrating device. |
