<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust device for a Diesel engine capable of avoiding deterioration of performance of the Diesel engine by passing exhaust gas through a smoke removing device in starting and low load operation during which smoke tends to be emitted or at a time when smoke is emitted according to operating conditions and passing exhaust gas through an exhaust pipe which has low exhaust gas resistance under operation conditions emitting little smoke, and a method for operating the same. <P>SOLUTION: In an exhaust device 10 for a Diesel engine provided with an exhaust pipe 12 leading exhaust gas emitted from the Diesel engine 11 to atmosphere, the smoke removing device 14 removing Diesel exhaust fine particulate from the exhaust gas, the exhaust gas pipe 12 is provided with a bypass pipe 13 bypassing a part of the exhaust pipe 12, and the smoke removing device 14 is arranged in series to the bypass pipe 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
