<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller for a vehicle convenient in carrying, separable for use as needed, convenient in handling, and improved in safety and the prevention of crime in handling. <P>SOLUTION: This remote controller for a vehicle includes: a portable communication device 1 and an in-vehicle communication device 2 for receiving a radio signal from the portable communication device 1. A unit control means 21 mounted on the in-vehicle communication device 2 controls designated in-vehicle units D, I according to the radio signal from the portable communication device 1. The portable communication device 1 has a main device 3 and a subsidiary device 4. The main device 3 and the subsidiary device 4 are provided with transmitting parts 34, 44 for transmitting a radio signal to the in-vehicle communication device 2.
