PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in a coordinate input device for outputting absolute coordinates and relative coordinates.

SOLUTION: This coordinate input device is provided with a deciding means for deciding whether or not coordinates are continuously calculated and a means for deciding whether absolute coordinates is outputted or relative coordinates is outputted is decided based on a coordinate value which is turned to be valid at first while the coordinates are continuously outputted, and for fixing the output mode of the coordinate values detected within the following continuous period.
