An instrument enclosure apparatus used for enclosing electronic devices such as computer hardware can employ a cooling regime for the hardware it accommodates. Should the configuration or type of hardware be altered during the lifetime of the enclosure then the cooling regime required will change but known enclosures are not well suited to reuse because they are tailored to specific designs. Accordingly the present invention provides an instrument enclosure apparatus having a plurality of vents (106) disposed along a sidewall (104) of a housing and a pair of retaining posts (120) within the housing being disposed adjacent the sidewall (104) such that the retaining posts (120) permit the removable insertion of insert devices (126) for adaptable air flow management design. <IMAGE>
