PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymer compound useful as a light-emitting material, a charge transfer material, or the like. SOLUTION: The polymer compound has a number-average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene of 10<SP>3</SP>to 10<SP>8</SP>and comprises recurring units expressed by formula (1-1) or formula (1-2), where in these formulae the ring A, ring B, ring C and ring D represent each independently an aromatic ring which may have substituents selected from the group consisting of an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, an aryl, an aryloxy, arylthio, an arylalkyl, an arylalkoxy, an arylalkylthio, an arylalkenyl, an arylalkynyl, an amino, a substituted amino, a silyl, a substituted silyl, a halogen atom, an acyl, an acyloxy, an imino, an amide, an imide, a monovalent heterocyclic, a carboxy, a substituted carboxy and a cyano group.
