PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive circuit structure that increases the speed of reading a nonvolatile memory and a method for reading correction data from a ROM at high speed and at low cost. SOLUTION: The method of controlling a picture display device includes: a process in which correction data are read out from a first memory storing correction data for the purpose of correcting light emission of each light emitting element and in which the read correction data are then written in a second memory having the capability of writing and reading data faster than the first memory; a process in which a drive control section reads the correction data stored in the second memory; and a process in which the drive control section corrects the light emitting device on the basis of the correction data and in which a display section displays a picture on the basis of the picture data.
