[Also in Divisions B5 and C1] A refractory composite article comprises a plurality of carbon fibres coated with silver, silver-aluminium alloys or their mixtures, and bonded by an aluminium base matrix. The coated fibres are contacted with solid aluminium base material, e.g. foil heated to, e.g. 550‹ C. in vacuo, pressed and cooled. The fibres can be randomly orientated but are preferably parallely arranged. |
