PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a coloring material by which the color of a beauty product, such as the hair color etc., can be selected objectively based on the flesh color of a customer when a beauty artist, the technical adviser of a hair salon, etc., discriminates the color of the hair color suitable to the customer. SOLUTION: In the method for discriminating color of beauty product, the color of the beauty product suitable to the customer is discriminated after applying a coloring material for yellow-base discrimination containing a titanium oxide, red iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, and black iron oxide in a state where the ratio of the sum of the contents of the red and yellow iron oxides to the content of the black iron oxide is adjusted to 4:1 to 20:1 and another coloring material for blue-base discrimination containing the titanium oxide, red iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, and black iron oxide and, when necessary, a blue coloring matter in a state where the ratio of the sum of the contents of the red and yellow iron oxides to that of the contents of the black iron oxide and blue coloring matter is adjusted to 1:1 to 4:1 to the skin of the customer and selecting the coloring material suitable to the skin of the customer out of the coloring materials for yellow-and blue-base discrimination.
