Production of a catalyst support body involves forming a honeycomb body, forming a corrugated casing with a profile, producing a housing having an inner contour, inserting the honeycomb body into the casing, inserting the casing with the honeycomb body into the housing, and calibrating the housing, so that the inner contour and the profile of the casing are reduced. Production of a catalyst support body (1) involves forming a honeycomb body (2) having an outer extension partially formed by ends (9) of layers (3, 4), forming a corrugated casing (7) with a profile, producing a housing (6) having an inner contour, inserting the honeycomb body into the corrugated casing, inserting the corrugated casing with the honeycomb body into the housing, and calibrating the housing, so that the inner contour and the profile of the casing are reduced. An Independent claim is also included for a catalyst support body produced by the above process.
