PURPOSE: To provide a refrigerant collecting device and a refrigerant collecting method capable of efficiently collecting refrigerant gas when an air conditioner for which a pump down work is not allowed is removed. CONSTITUTION: In this refrigerant collecting device, a copper pipe direct-connection tool is fitted to the suction air check valve side of a refrigerant collecting pump producing a suction/discharge action effect by allowing a piston to move in a cylindrical container to operate a suction air check valve and a discharge check valve. The copper pipe direct-connection tool or a service port connection valve is fitted to the exhaust check valve side.
