<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a motor controller and a rotation drive device which can perform the drive control of a motor with high accuracy and an image forming device which can form a high quality image by controlling the motor with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: Between the time when a reference signal whose level is "high" from the optical sensor 114 of a motor controller is outputted and the time when a reference signal whose level is "high" is outputted next, a period of detected signals whose levels are "high" from the optical sensor 108 is counted by a timer 164, and moreover, this number of counts is integrated for every period.
