PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently prevent the malfunction of a switching regulator due to fluctuations in inputs or loads. SOLUTION: This switching regulator protective circuit, used for protecting a switching power source 1, comprises an overcurrent detector 6, a hold circuit 12 and an overload detector 7. The overcurrent detector 6 transmits an overcurrent detection signal 2002 when the overcurrent runs through respective elements constituting the switching regulator 1. The hold circuit 12 takes the overcurrent detection signal 2002 as a sample from the overcurrent detector 6, holds it for a predetermined period and outputs it. The overload detector 7 transmits an overload detection signal 2001 by detecting output failure of the switching regulator. By taking the overload detection signal 2001 from the overload detector 7 and an overcurrent detection signal 2003 from the hold circuit 12 as a logical product, protective processing for the switching regulator is held until both the signals are maintained for the predetermined period and outputted.
