摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contaminated sediment at the bottom of the water disposal method which efficiently disposes of fine particles in sediments. SOLUTION: A groove 7 is bored in a bottom of the water 1 at a location adjacent to a contaminated area 5 in which the sediments are contaminated, in a manner descending toward an existing or artificial recess 6 at a location outside the contaminated area 5. Then the sediments in the contaminated area 5 is agitated while the density of bottom water 2 in the contaminated area 5 is kept to a higher value than the density in the other area, and sediment particles 3 swirled up by the agitation by a density current L of the high-density bottom water 2 flowing into the groove 7 is guided to the groove 7, and collected in the recess 6, followed by sealing the contaminated sediment particles 3 in the recess 6 or dredged out of the recess 6 to dispose of the same. Preferably, cooling water and/or a coolant is fed onto the sediments in the contaminated area 5 to cool the bottom water 2, to thereby increase the density of the bottom water 2 in the contaminated area 5. If the sediment contaminated area 5 is on the sea bottom, salinity enriched seawater is fed onto the sediments in the contaminated area 5 to increase the density of the bottom water 2.
