PURPOSE: To provide a fishing rod with which a smooth zoom operation free from sense of incompatibility is carried out. CONSTITUTION: The fishing rod 10 is equipped with a zoom mechanism with which a butt front rod 14 is expanded and contracted to a butt rod 15. A shock absorbing member 26 is arranged so as to cover the rear end face of the butt front rod 14. The shock absorbing member 26 is constituted of NBR (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber), etc. The butt front rod 14 is inserted into the inside of a fitting member 24. The fitting member 24 has an inclined surface 31 for guiding the fitting of the butt front rod 14.
