PURPOSE: A vertical magnetic recording medium is provided to form a soft magnetic orientation film at a lower part of a soft magnetic layer to magnetically orient the soft magnetic layer, thereby stabilizing the soft magnetic layer even though the soft magnetic layer is thick and reducing the noise. CONSTITUTION: A vertical magnetic recording medium includes a soft magnetic orientation film(301) formed between a soft magnetic film(302) and a substrate(300). The soft magnetic orientation film forms vertical magnetic paths from a head for realizing the recording of information on a vertical magnetic recording film(304) when the head is a single pole head and the vertical magnetic recording is carried out thereby.
