IMAGE READER AND IMAGE READING METHOD

A line sensor camera (11) is provided to pick up images of a print material (45). A pulse generator (12) generates a pulse each time when the print material (45) is carried by a predetermined distance. The line sensor camera (11) receives the pulse, accumulates charges for a predetermined time therefrom, converts it into image data, and displays it on a liquid crystal display (33). Each time when a predetermined quantity of the print material (45) is carried, the charges of the picked-up image are accumulated for the predetermined time, and thus, the image of the predetermined exposure time can be continuously detected at a predetermined intervals. As a result, an image reader capable of reducing the cost and reliably detecting the image can be provided.
