PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic material which is excellent in sensor detection ability even in the case of a small silver amount and is free of a deterioration in photographic performance. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic material is characterized in that the ratio (I<SB>20</SB>/I<SB>10</SB>) of scattered light intensity (I<SB>10</SB>) from the photosensitive material, measured at the same point as an irradiation point when the surface of a silver halide emulation coating side or the opposite-side surface is irradiated with infrared rays having a peak at 850 to 1,100 nm at 10°to a direction perpendicular to the surface, to scattered light intensity (I<SB>20</SB>) from the photosensitive material, measured when the surface is irradiated with infrared rays at angle of 20°under the same condition, is 0.6 to 1.0 and the coated silver amount is≤3.3 g/m<SP>2</SP>.
