1286995 Graft polymer articles FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 20 Oct 1969 [19 Oct 1968] 51375/69 Heading C3G A shaped article, such as a film or sheet, bearing characters or a design is produced by forming a transparent article from a plasticizerfree emulsion graft polymer of vinyl chloride, or of vinyl chloride and a comonomer containing from 5 to 30% by weight, based on the graft polymer, of an elastomer based on (a) butadiene, styrene and an acrylic acid ester and/or a methacrylic acid ester, or (b) butadiene, styrene and acrylonitrile, and deforming the article by embossing so that it undergoes a colour change in the deformed area or areas. The films in the examples are produced from (1) butadiene/styrene/methyl methacrylate copolymer grafted with vinyl chloride and blended with diphenyl thiourea and montan wax or (b) butadiene/styrene/n-butyl acrylate copolymer, aminocrotonic acid ester and said wax. |
