摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for reporting the distance between a source of voice data for guiding visually impaired people and a current position and also reporting the direction of a receiver for visually disabled people. <P>SOLUTION: The receiver for the visually impaired people is provided with an angle detection means. As the receiver is swayed sideways, angles at which it can receive light coming from a transmitter are detected. A distance calculation means calculates the distance from the transmitter to the current position, and the distance to a target object is reported by voice. If the sway of the receiver deviates from the direction in which light can be received, the correct direction is reported by voice. Light including height information along with modulated guidance voice data is emitted from the transmitter for visually impaired people, and the receiver uses a tilt angle detection means to detect a tilt angle at which the receiver can receive optical signals while swaying vertically. Distances are calculated and the distance to the transmitter is calculated and reported by voice. Alternatively, the receiver is provided with an input light level measuring means and the distance to the source of light is calculated based on input light levels and can be reported by voice. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
