PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil pump capable of surely drain oil from a drain outlet even when the oil pump is provided with high pressure and high capacity to reduce damage to a sealing member. SOLUTION: The oil pump comprises a rotor for providing pumping action, a drive shaft, a sealing member for sealing a boundary area between an outer wall face of the drive shaft and an inner wall face of a shaft hole, and the drain hole 51. The drain hole 51 sucks excessive amount of oil from the drain inlet through a drain communicating channel and drains to the drain outlet 51. In a cross section showing an opening center 51x of the drain outlet 51 in a direction orthogonal to a center line P1 of a sucking channel 24, the opening center of the drain outlet 51 is configured to be positioned outside an inner wall face 24r of the sucking channel 24 or an extended line of the inner wall face 24r.
