Copolyamides are prepared from an equimolar mixture of 1,11-diaminoundecane and terephthalic acid and 3 to 40% by weight of the total of caprolactam. Copolymerization may be effected in a solvent, e.g. phenol or cresol, and in the presence of 1/50 to 1/600 mols. of a viscosity stabilizer, e.g. terephthalic, acetic, benzoic or stearic acid. Impurities may be extracted with hot water. The products may be used for the manufacture of fibres, gears, rollers and pipes. |
